Just deleted…

I deleted a friend from Facebook today, which I’ve actually never done before, due to differing opinions. But as I lay here wide awake at 4:30 with a heavy heart, doom scrolling in hopes I would fall back asleep, I read the words of someone I’ve known forever and used to really like. A person who “preached” love and equality. Who said they didn’t stand for hate or bigotry? Who thought we should be accepting of every person, regardless of their beliefs, the way they looked, dressed, or lived? This person and I have very different political views, but I agreed with them on that point.

I deleted this person because they celebrated the death of an innocent man who chose to live his life preaching his beliefs and having conversations with those who didn’t agree with him. It’s ironic, really, that Charlie Kirk didn’t choose to delete people; instead, he gave them a chance to share their views and opinions peacefully while he shared his own. I usually try to do the same, but when I read the celebratory words of someone I once called a friend, I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t allow that much hatred across my feed.

I don’t care if you live your life differently from me. I don’t care if we have different political views. I don’t care if you don’t believe the same things I believe. I do care that you’re a piece of crap that celebrates an innocent life being taken. I do care that you celebrate the death of a man while doing his job, no matter if you agreed with his job or not. Evil has absolutely no place in my life! If you show evil, you will be removed, period.

Hug your people, laugh, love, pray.
